Resources
Here are some things I've used in my library.
Some created by me, some not.
Use what you like!
In my school Library we have been encouraging students to contemplate the role of AI in their world. How to use it, why to use it, and its effects.
The goal of this presentation was not to inform students about AI as that information is ever changing but to encourage a thought provoking discussion on its effects and place in our world, whatever that might be today or tomorrow.
I created this presentation on Canva.
Many young people are often told they are addicted to the internet. While that may or may not be true, they should be more than prepared to tackle the online word.
I created this lesson to attempt to solidify some online practices with as minimal nagging as possible. In this presentation there are multiple activities to keep young people engaged. There are notes accompanying the Canva presentation that may help administer these activities.

D&D Club
At lunch on Wednesday we table-top-roleplay. We have two lunch periods, 6th grade and 7th & 8th grade. I DM the 6th grade campaign and I have a student DM for 7th & 8th grade. We have used both a premade and original campaigns, both we have manipulated to fit the group. I am by no means an expert and am quite novice in the D&D universe. However, It is truly the best meeting students where they are and seeing their imaginations explode! I created an original campaign based on Egyptian mythology, I used Claude to convert my original story into game play as I am so new. I follow the guide extremely loosely and rely more on my story and vibes for each session.

Sora Challenges
Our library's online collection is on Sora. Up until recently I have struggled to get students on this amazing resource. One major change I have made to increase engagement is using food as an incentive. Why didn't I do this sooner!? I had previously been using our school currency as incentive alongside the challenge feature in Sora and it just wasn't enticing enough. I told students that if they enrolled in the Sora challenge and read 120 min in the month of February, I would give them a Donut. Wow! Its been amazing! I plan to increase the reading amount 30 minutes each month and change the food to match the season or month!
